They did it for Nashville
Conservative television can be mighty hard to find these days. “Last Man Standing” was one of those shows and it was quite popular too. Despite it’s great ratings though however, it was cancelled and many are calling foul play.
All is not lost for the show. Reports are in that CMT is looking to pick-up the show similar to how they saved “Nashville” after it was canceled. Scroll down for more details.
“CMT is in “early talks” to pick up “Last Man Standing” after ABC axed the show in May despite high ratings, a source told Fox News.
A source close to the deal confirmed to Fox News that CMT is in the “very early stages” of discussions to become the new home for the beloved Tim Allen series.
However, the source warned, “It feels like a long shot.”
“Last Man Standing” has already proven successful for CMT. The network currently airs the sitcom in syndication.
CMT recently rescued another fan-favorite show: “Nashville,” which was canceled by ABC in May 2016 and then picked up by CMT a month later.
Finding a new home for “Last Man Standing” has been a priority for 20th Century Fox Television, which produces the show, since it was canceled. Howard Kurtzman, president of 20th Century Fox Television, told The Hollywood Reporter in May, “If there’s a way to bring it back, we will explore those opportunities.”
The cancellation came as a shock for many fans and Allen himself.
“Stunned and blindsided by the network I called home for the last six years,” Allen tweeted days after ABC’s announcement.
ABC told Fox News at the time “this was a scheduling decision,” while an online petition accused the network of booting the show over its conservative values.”
